External Door Handles

External locking handles for insulated bodies, refrigerated vehicles, and box vans are available in several versions, allowing the most suitable door locking solution to be selected for each application.

EXTERNAL DOOR HANDLES

External door handles are mounted on the outside of the door and are designed for the rear doors of insulated, refrigerated, and freezer vehicle bodies.

When used together with a complete locking rod kit, they provide an external door locking system without the need to modify or penetrate the door panels. This preserves the integrity and thermal insulation of the doors while eliminating the risk of thermal bridging.

Depending on the size of the vehicle body, three handle sizes are available:

• Ø16 Handle – designed for small van bodies.
• Ø22 Handle – designed for medium and large truck bodies.
• Ø27 Handle – designed for large, heavy-duty vehicle bodies and semi-trailers.

Handle Features

• Manufactured from AISI 304 stainless steel.
• Every handle is fitted with a key-operated cylinder lock.
• The handle mechanism rotates the operating tube, releasing the locking rods engaged in the upper and lower catches.
• Door opening and closing is achieved using the handle together with a complete locking rod kit (clamps, catches and locking rods) and a heavy-duty operating tube matched to the handle mounting diameter (Ø16, Ø22 or Ø27 mm).
• All handle versions can be equipped with an internal emergency release, allowing the door to be opened from inside in the event of accidental entrapment during loading or unloading. This function is operated by a dedicated emergency release button, available separately. The emergency release will operate only if the handle has not been locked with the key.

Operation and Maintenance

• After closing the door, ensure that the handle push button is fully engaged in the locked position.
• The handle should always be locked with the key. Only the key lock prevents accidental door opening while the vehicle is in motion.
• The handle springs, which ensure correct operation of the push button and smooth opening and closing, should be inspected regularly. If damaged, they should be replaced. Replacement springs are available as spare parts from our standard product range.
• If the lock cylinder or key is lost or damaged, a replacement cylinder with the same key number can be supplied. Simply provide the key code shown on the lock cylinder housing or on the key.
• Stainless steel components should be cleaned periodically using neutral, chloride-free cleaning agents, followed by thorough rinsing with clean water. Do not use abrasive metal scouring pads or steel wool, as these may damage the stainless steel surface.
